Tips About Seasonal employees

The Employer's Job Offer

The employer's job offer will be used as a guideline to set employee's expectations about their future positions. The job offer is a contract that we expect both the host company and the employee to honor. Contracts will be provided by Adnil Services.

Minimum Hours

For approval of temporary labor certification, employers must offer full-time employment (32 or more hours per week).

Start Dates and Arrivals

Start and end dates of the program are determined by your company’s need for the specific job duties to be performed by the requested employee(s). The USDOL will approve the dates requested by an employer based on several criteria, including but not limited to, contracts for job duties to be performed during a specified period of time, revenues, payroll, number of hours worked in the particular job, number of employees in the job category, and occupancy levels.

Employers are prohibited from requesting an employment start date on Form I-129 (petition to USCIS) that is different from the date of need listed on the approved Labor Certification. Adnil Services cannot guarantee that your requested start dates will be approved by USDOL or USCIS, or that the employees will be able to begin on the date you requested due to embassy interviews, arrival delays, or H-2B contracts that H-2B in-country employees are completing on a prior extension. We do, however, try to come as close as possible.

Housing

All employers are required to provide housing and/or shuttle service from nearby housing locations to the workplace at a reasonable cost. Ensuring affordable housing in the employer’s area is important to the success of the H-2B program. H-2B employees are responsible for their own housing costs, including deposits. Providing free or reduced-cost housing for employees makes your positions very attractive to prospective applicants.

Community Information

The more employers can help employees feel a part of the community in the beginning of their program, the better. Adnil Services compiles a Welcome Packet for the H-2B employees that includes information supplied by the employer on local resources, such as libraries, internet cafes, local transportation, coupons, an employer’s Welcome Letter, job description, and housing information, as well as what is expected of the employees while at the property.

Salary and Benefits Package

Employers must base their compensation for H-2B employees upon the prevailing wage for regular full-time employees in the same position. This amount is set for each position and region by USDOL. Many employers offer additional benefits such as subsidized public transportation, discounted room rates, discount coupons to local events/attractions, employee cafeteria, and vacation, sick time and holiday pay, according to standard company policy.

Social Security

Employees who have participated in the program in the past will have Social Security numbers. Employees participating for the first time will need to a apply for Social Security card. Employers are expected to provide transportation for new employees to the nearest Social Security office to apply for Social Security numbers.

Taxes

H-2B employees pay all relevant federal, state and local taxes including FICA (Social Security), Medicare or Medicaid.

Insurance

Employees are required to purchase insurance coverage provided through Adnil Services. Seven Corners, Inc. is our health and life insurance provider. A full list of insurance benefits covered by Seven Corners, Inc. is on the insurance page. Further information is available on Seven Corners, Inc.’s website: http://www.sevencorners.com . To obtain insurance, please contact Adnil Services. Insurance must be paid to Adnil Services by the employee, in advance, for the duration of the employee’s contract.

Travel

Adnil Services makes all travel arrangements for employees through Susan Peavey Travel, Inc.( 781-319-1960, www.susanpeaveytravel.com). H-2B EMPLOYEES ARE NOT PERMITED TO PURCHASE TICKETS FROM ANY OTHER SOURCE. If employees are in country and traveling by car they must send us the date of which they will be leaving their current address and the date of which they will be arriving at their new address.
